Where Texas and Louisiana Meet

The northern forests are home to deer, squirrels, rabbits, bears, muskrats, mink, opossums, bobcats, and skunks. Alligators are common in Louisiana’s extensive swamps, bogs, lakes, rivers, and bayous. The state also has 1,060 square miles (2,745 km²) of land-locked bays; 1,700 square miles (4,400 km²) of inland lakes; and a river surface of over 500 square miles (1,300 km²). The state’s rivers and smaller streams constitute a natural system of navigable waterways, aggregating over 4,000 miles (6,400 km) in length. The higher lands and contiguous hill lands of the north and northwestern parts of the state consist of prairie and woodlands. Much engineering effort is devoted to keeping the river near its traditional route, as the state’s economy and shipping depend on it.

Devoted to seafood of all kinds, Freda’s is also known for serving a good selection of dishes inspired by native Louisiana cooking. Live music is almost always on the schedule, and terrific dining is a given. The menu mixes Cajun, Greek, and Texan fare, meaning you can start with spanokopetes or gumbo and then munch on shrimp Mytilini or pork boudin. Hill Top, set away from prominent restaurant thoroughfares and given to an eclectic menu and the whims of its owners, is a refreshing change of pace from corporate eateries. Frog legs, fried pickles, smoked boudin, and Cajun crab cakes all make excellent starters.

When I left, I didn’t experience the exhaustion or disorientation like the first visit. This time was more of a tease, not as bold and intrusive. I’ve had too many “experiences” not to believe, but I am still skeptical. When we entered the kitchen, a nice server was more than willing to share her experiences and concerns, “I have felt hands on me.

Festival International de Louisiane is the largest international music and arts festival in the United States. Louisiana shares its borders with the State of Texas in the west, with Arkansas in the north, and with Mississippi in the east. It is known for its deltaic system, which has created intricate networks of waterways and is pivotal to the city’s existence.

The changing course of this great North American river has created the huge Atchafalaya River basin and has dumped tons of sediment along the coast. Hills flank the Red River valley and lend contour to the northern portion of the Florida Parishes; the state’s highest point is Driskill Mountain (535 feet 163 meters), in northwestern Louisiana. More recently, corruption in state politics and an explosion of crime in the New Orleans area have marred that city’s colorful image. Since the 1960s the state’s economy, tied closely to the fluctuating oil industry, has experienced slower economic growth and less diversification than many other Southern states. The wealth of the plantations was accumulated through the extensive use of slaves, whose descendants comprise nearly one-third of Louisiana’s population and whose culture has contributed much to the social fabric of the state. It is delineated from its neighbors—Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, and Texas to the west—by both natural and man-made boundaries.

The friendly staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a great dining experience. The restaurant is nestled in a beautiful area with a lovely patio that provides a perfect setting for a pleasant orlandeaux dining experience. The rustic decor and lively ambiance created a great dining experience. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Louisiana Longhorn Cafe is a great dining option for any time of day. While the Overstreets enjoy their well-deserved retirement, LLC will remain the same beloved cajun food destination in the heart of Downtown Round Rock.

Their menu is filled with handheld treats. Get your sandwich and waffle fix at the same time at Waffle Love in Round Rock. They have a South West Turkey sandwich, Patty Melt, Reuben, and a BLT on the menu. We recommend trying their melt-in-your-mouth Philly Cheesesteak!

To make the experience even more enjoyable, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my requests. The breading was light and crispy, complementing the juicy steak inside. The hefty steak was perfectly breaded, with a crunchy golden crust that promised a satisfying bite. Overall, my visit to LongHorn Steakhouse in Round Rock was a delightful experience.
